Identification code on CorrLinks is the code that you receive in your first email where it is a unique code. This code is important for sending and receiving a message from an inmate.
This identification code will be received by you in an inmate request email that you receive from your inmate when you want to communicate with federal prison inmates. It means that you need to give them your email address first before you register to CorrLinks. Basically, you are able to register to CorrLinks even though you do not have this identification code, but you will not be able to send email to inmates yet.

So, the route is that there will be an inmate request email to your email inbox where sometimes it may show as spam. You will receive this request after you give them your email address and the inmate will submit it to the CorrLinks system. You will see that the sender is CorrLinks and the subject will include the inmate’s name.
In the inmate request email, there are two important pieces of information including the link to the CorrLinks site and the inmate Identification Code. This code will be used by you when you register at CorrLinks.
The Steps to Register to CorrLinks to Email Federal Inmates and The Way the Identification Code is Used
If you want to register to CorrLinks to be able to email federal inmates, you are able to follow the steps below according to the Turbo Future site. In the steps, you are also able to see how the identification code is used.
- First, you have to receive an invitation from your inmate so that you are able to communicate with your federal prison inmate. As explained earlier, you can register for a CorrLinks account without getting this request, but you will not be able to email any inmates yet. Before you receive this inmate request email, you need to give the inmate your email address and then they will submit it to the CorrLinks system. It is important for you to note that sometimes this inmate request email is in your spam folder so you have to check it. You will also see that the sender is CorrLinks and the subject includes the name of the inmate. You have to click on the inmate’s name in the subject box to go to the next step.
- There will be two important pieces of information that you will get in this inmate request email including the link to the CorrLinks website and the Inmate Identification Code. The thing that you have to do here is to click on the link to the CorrLinks website to register for a CorrLinks account.
- When you are on the Register page, you have to click on the Register which then will take you to the Sign-Up page.
- In the Sign-Up page, you have to fill out all of the information which is required such as your first name, last name, email address, retype email address, choose a password, retype your password and identification code. In the identification code field, you can copy the identification code from the inmate request email that you received and paste it in that identification code field. You have to make sure that you use the similar email address here where you received the request email from a federal inmate, if not their identification code will not work. Then, you have to click on the checkbox and click on the Next button. Then, you will receive a verification email to your email inbox.
If prompted, at any time to input the ID code of an inmate, you have to click on the Enable Email Alert check box and then click on the Accept button. By doing it, it will send you notices through your regular email inbox every time the inmate sends you a message through CorrLinks. If you do not enable it, when your inmate sends you a message through CorrLinks, you may not know it, unless you check CorrLinks regularly.
- When you check the verification email, you will see the sender is Web@CorrLinks.com and the subject is Sign Up Verification Link. The thing that you have to do is to click on the verification link to go to the next step.
- After you click on the verification link, you will be taken to the Sign-Up page where there are your account details. The thing that you have to do here is to fill out all of the information which is required and then click on the Next button. Now, you will be taken to your CorrLinks account page.
- Now, your account is set up and you can start sending messages to the inmate.
