If you have registered on VINELink to receive a notification, of course VINELink will give you a notification regarding the custody status. That’s the aim of VINE where this system provides the crime victims access concerning an offender’s custody status.
One of the notifications you may receive is about the custody status. If this is your first time using VINELink, you may wonder what the custody status means. Thankfully! This post will show you the information regarding the custody status available on VINELink. Okay, let’s dive into our post to find out the information about it!
What Does the Custody Status Mean on VINELink?
Basically, VINELink will notify the custody status to registered crime victims. The custody status here means the status of an inmate in prison, whether an inmate was moved, transferred or also released.
Whatever the inmate’s status, VINELink will inform the registered crime victim about the status of an inmate in prison. That said, the type of custody changes will vary depending on the state or facility where an inmate is incarcerated.
Of course, if you have registered to receive the notifications from VINELink, you will always receive a notification regarding the status of an inmate. It’s important to note, only registered crime victims will receive the notification of the inmate’s status from VINELink.
We take an example, if an inmate is incarcerated in the Los Angeles County Jail System and he/she will be transferred or moved to the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitations (CDCR), you definitely will receive a notification that an inmate was moved or transferred to CDCR. If so, you may need to re-register with the VINE that indicates the inmate is housed in a CDCR facility.
How Do Notifications Work in VINELink?
Basically, the system of VINE will monitor an inmate’s movement, transfers and releases. If an inmate is transferred or released, VINE will automatically contact the appropriately registered crime victims. As soon as new changes regarding an inmate are received, VINE will begin calling you immediately.
If you already know that VINELink will inform a notification regarding the custody status, you may wonder how VINELink provides the notification to crime victims. It is known that VINELink offers multiple custody status notification options where crime victims can choose how they want to be notified.
The options here include:
1. By Phone
After you register to receive phone calls, VINE will call your phone number that you have provided when registration if there is a change in an inmate’s custody status. If you receive a phone call from VINE, you need to listen to the message and then enter your chosen PIN followed by the pound key.
Make sure to enter your PIN to let VINE know that you received the call and will stop VINE from calling you again regardless of the particular status change. If you don’t answer the phone calls, VINE may leave a message and continue to call you back until you enter your PIN or until a predetermined amount of time has passed.
2. By Email
If you’ve registered to receive a notification via email, VINE will automatically email you when a change in the inmate’s stats has occurred. You definitely will only receive one email per status change. For more information, most states do not require a PIN for email notifications.
3. Text Message
If you’ve registered to receive a notification via text message, VINE will automatically send you a text message when an inmate’s status changes. You will only receive one text message per status change. Well, you may also be required to create a 4-digit PIN for text notifications.
4. In-app Notifications
If you’ve registered to receive a notification via in-app notifications, VINE will automatically send an in-app notification when an inmate’s status changes. An in-app notification will be saved under the notification dashboard indicated by the ALERTS icon in the VINELink app.
If you are using a mobile app and have agreed to receive push notifications from VINELink, you may need to select from various settings for showing the push notification banner. Of course, those notifications can be received from both your mobile device and through web experience.
