How to Request a Refund From GTL

According to the ConnectNetwork GTL site, you are able to receive a refund if you do not need your AdvancePay account anymore. On that site, it is explained that they refund unused balances on active and inactive accounts to users. To receive a refund, you have to submit a request to ConnectNetwork and validate your identity as the account holder. After that, ConnectNetwork team will process your refund within 30 days, but it will not be longer than 60 days after the date of your request. However, it is important for you to note that the automated online refund process may not be available for all facilities. On the GTL Customer User Guide from California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) site, it is explained that refund requests are processed by customer service and refunds will be sent through Western Union Quick Cash to participating Western Union Agent locations. If the refunds are not retrieved from the Western Union Agent within 30 days, it will be forfeited to GTL. In that customer user guide, it is also explained that a refund request is subject to Western Union transaction fees and if your account balance is less than the Western Union transaction fee, your refund request will not be processed.

In that customer user guide, it is also explained that if your account is inactive for 90 days, you will get a notification of inactivity through a written correspondence or an automated outbound message. If GTL gets no contact from the account holder after 180 days from the posting of the inactivity notification, they will close the account and you will not be able to get your refund.
