JPay was recently acquired by Securus Technologies in 2015. However, the JPay’s system is not fully moved to Securus, since they are still in the process of merging their services. Of course, you can still access JPay and Securus separately through their respective websites.
If the merger process is complete, what should you do to be able to access Securus? Will the JPay system be switched automatically? And will your JPay account also be available at Securus? If you also wonder how to merge JPay and Securus, you can dive into our post to find real information about it. Let’s check it out!
How to Merge JPay and Securus?
If it is your time to merge JPay and Securus, you will receive an email that allows you to link your accounts. The email will be sent by Securus to the personal email address used as your JPay username. It definitely will advise you what to do and provide a URL describing the steps to link your JPay account to a Securus account.
If you did not receive the email, you can go to https://securustech.online/#/jpay. Then, you can enter your JPay username and password. If you cannot do it, you can try to make a phone call to 972-734-1111 for assistance.
If Merged, Can You Use Both JPay and Securus at Same Time?
Unfortunately, you can’t! If they have completely been merged, you cannot use both at the same time. Instead, you can only access Securus to send and receive messages with inmates. Of course, JPay’s email service will no longer be available for inmates.
If merged, you can only use Securus eMessaging to send and receive messages from your loved one in prison. Securus eMessaging actually continues to improve the experience for you to communicate with your loved one in prison.
Since JPay’s email service is not currently moving to Securus eMessaging, you may still be able to use this service to send and receive messages from inmates. Hereinafter, you may receive an email to the personal address used as your JPay username to alert you to this change.
What Can You Do with Securus eMessaging?
Securus eMessaging lets family and friends communicate with inmates using email-like messaging. With Securus eMessaging, you can do the following things:
- Sending a text-based message
- Attaching up to 5 photos
- Sharing up to 5 eCards
- Sending just a photo with our Snap n’ Send®, (App only)
- Sending a 30 second VideoGram which you record now or have saved (App only)
With Securus eMessaging, inmates can do the following things:
- Replying to your message if you attach a return stamp
- Receiving transferred stamps that you share at no cost to them
- Buying their own stamps from their Securus Debit account (when available)
Here’s how to use Securus eMessaging!
- You should have a Securus Online account and make sure to login to use eMessaging.
- Messages will be sent and received from your eMessaging inbox from the website or on the Securus mobile app.
- eMessages will be paid for by buying a book of stamps. The stamp’s pricing will vary depending on the facility. After you choose an inmate, the stamp price will be shown.
- Make sure to find an inmate, buy a book of stamps and start writing your message.
It’s important to note, all messages and photos will be subject to review by the facility. If a message or photo is rejected or the inmate’s reply is also rejected, you will then receive a rejected message in your inbox with the reason for the rejection. However, the stamps will not be refunded if messages or attachments are rejected.
