After getting released from the jail, prison, or detention center, you can get the rest of the balance from your Securus Debit account. In order to get the remaining money, you can visit any Western Union retail or agent location in the state where you were released.
If you want to collect the refund from a Securus Debit account, there are a few steps that you can follow. All of them are as follows:
- Firstly, you should call the Securus Incarcerated Individual Hotline at 1-855-273-7292.
- By doing so, you will be provided with a Money Transfer Control Number or MTCN for the approved account. This number is a 10-digit number assigned for each Western Union money transfer for tracking and transaction identification.
- After having the MTCN in your hand, it is time for you to go to a Western Union location in the state of your release.
- Once you are there, present the MTCN and a Photo ID so that you can get the funds.
Talking about getting a refund from a Securus Debit account, you should keep in mind a few things, such as:
- When you try to get a refund from a Securus Debit account, the Western Union may charge you with a fee reducing the total refund amount.
- Usually, the refund will be available within 2 business days after your request for refund is received by Securus.
- To prevent fraud or money laundering, every refund that is more than $100 will be evaluated. To evaluate this kind of thing, you have to wait up to 5 business days.
- Securus Debit accounts are created to pay for all the services offered by Securus and not for the transfer of monies between family, friends, and formerly incarcerated individuals.
- Securus has the right to return the remaining money to the rightful owner and may return any questionable funds to the debit or credit card used to deposit the funds.
