How Do I Schedule a Visitation at TDCJ

If you have family members or friends who are incarcerated at the Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ), surely you will want to visit. Do not worry, The Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) allows a visitation between inmates and their family members and friends. Of course, a visitation plays an important role to maintain connection between inmates and their family members and friends. Usually, inmates who receive more visits are also less likely to reoffend after release. By the way, how to schedule a visitation at TDCJ?

Schedule a Visitation at TDCJ – Here’s Way

As a family member or friend of the inmate at the Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ), you can schedule a visitation using the online visitation portal. Apparently, the Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) made this online visitation portal to ease the inmate’s family members or friends scheduling a visitation appointment with their incarcerated loved ones. So, through this portal, you can schedule a visitation easier and faster.

Schedule a Visitation at TDCJ

Before scheduling a visitation, a user account and visitor profile must be made and approved with visitor to inmate relationship. Well, if this is first for you, now, we will guide you to create a user account, visitor profile until you can schedule a visitation.

Here are steps to do:

  • At the first step, go to https://visitation.tdcj.texas.gov/Visitation/.
  • After that, select the ‘Create an Account’ link.
  • Then, enter your valid email address. select the Submit button.
  • Next, you can check email from TDCJ visitation.
  • In the email, you will see the Key. Please copy the Key and follow the link.
  • In this step, you need to enter your email address and the Key. Make a unique password and then confirm the password. select Submit.
  • Now, you will be able to login. Just enter your username or email and password correctly. select the Login button.
  • Afterwards, you must answer all of the background questions. After you answer all the questions, just select the box next to ‘I have completed the above questions.’ select the Submit button.
  • You must complete your profile by selecting the ‘Edit My Profile’ link.
  • Also, you must enter your information such as your first name, last name, date of birth, gender, race, address, city, state, zip code, and primary phone. select Update Profile.
  • You will be able to look up an inmate and inmate to your profile by selecting the Add Inmate button, once your profile is complete.
  • When the pop-up window displays, you will be able to search inmates by a TDCJ or SID number. For your information, the TDCJ/SID number must be 8 digits.
  • If the search result is a correct inmate, you can choose the relationship from the dropdown menu, and select Request Approval.
  • The relationship will appear in the Pending Approval section until the relationship is approved by the Unit.
  • The relationship will move to the Verified Inmate Relations section, once approved.
  • The Schedule Visit button will display as the units start using the online visit scheduler.
  • On the scheduling page, you can choose the visit type, visitation’s date, visitation’s time, and number of the visitors. Once all selections are made, just select the box next to ‘I have reviewed my selections and wish to schedule this visit,’ then select the Schedule Visit button.
  • When the visit has been successfully scheduled, you will see the screen display that your visit has been scheduled.
