Emanuel Women’s Facility is counted as a medium-security prison. It is intended for adult female inmates. It aims to manage female offenders and ensure public safety while at the same time operating a safe and secure facility. At this facility, the female inmates that are incarcerated are the ones that are medium and minimum-security and Level II outpatient mental health offenders.

The facility that is located in Swainsboro, Georgia was opened for the first time in 1995. In 2011, it was renovated. Right now, it has a maximum capacity of 415. At the facility, there are six open dormitories that accommodate 46 inmates per dorm, an open dorm that accommodates 124 inmates, and ten open dorms that accommodate 16 inmates per dorm. Visiting Hours and Rules

Family members or friends of inmates at Emanuel Women’s Facility can visit their loved ones on Saturdays, Sundays, or on state holidays from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Before making a visit, the first thing that they have to do is to fill out an application. After filling out one, they have to wait until it is approved by the Georgia Department of Corrections.
