In addition to accessing the services on its official website, you can also use them through the Getting Out app, which you can download from the Play Store or App Store. On the app, you can still use its services, such as making a phone call, sending messages via text or voicemail, adding funds, and making a schedule for video visits.
The Getting Out app offers convenience for you since it is easy-to-use and can be accessed on the go. If you want easier access to Getting Out, the app is your best choice that you can install on your phone. But, will the Getting Out app cost you? Let’s find out the information below!
Does the Getting Out App Cost Money?
No, absolutely not! You will not be charged when you only access the Getting Out app on your smartphone—it’s a free app to download. However, you need to pay some money if you want to use the Getting Out services on the app. Each service may charge a different fee.
To use Getting Out services on the app, you also have to first make a deposit to add funds to an inmate’s account. To do so, there are four methods you can take, including:
Method 1: By Online
Making a deposit through its official website of Getting Out is the fastest and easiest way to do it—it’s really safe and secure. They will accept all major credit, debit, and prepaid cards, including MasterCard, Visa, American Express, and Discover. After making a deposit, the funds will be immediately available in the inmate’s account.
Method 2: By Phone
You can also make a phone call to add funds to an inmate’s account by calling Getting Out representatives at 1 (866) 516-0115. However, this method may not allow you to directly make a deposit since you can’t just ask for help to do so. Luckily, they are standing by 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, so you can call them anytime.
Method 3: At the Facility
If you prefer to make a deposit in person, you can do it at a lobby kiosk that you can find in one of the many correctional facilities across the country. This is also a safe and secure way to add funds, but you should take the time to do it. When visiting a lobby kiosk, you may need to show your identity, such as your social card, driver’s license, or some other form of ID.
Method 4: Via Mobile App
If you do not want to waste your time by visiting the lobby kiosk at a facility where your loved one is incarcerated, you can consider making a deposit on the Getting Out app. Now, the app seems to ease people to make deposits directly on. Of course, you need to download it first on your smartphone—from the Play Store (on Android) and from the App Store (on iOS).
After making a deposit, you can use it to send messages, share photos, take video visits, and make phone calls. No worries! All the deposits you’ve made will be immediately available, so you can contact your loved ones quickly.
How to Refund Your Deposits on Getting Out?
You may want to get refunds of your Getting Out balance due to some reasons, such as the inmate you’re meant for is not available or cannot be reached, an inmate has been moved to another facility, or an inmate was released.
Of course, you can do that easily. You can receive your refunds in cash or by credit card, depending on the method you used to make the deposit. You may receive your refund within 6–10 weeks if your refund was issued as a check. While it may take 2-4 weeks if your refund is issued on a credit card.
To get your money back, you have to call Getting Out customer service to submit a refund request. You can call them at 1-866-856-1858, making sure to use the pin you’d like to use. If you’re qualified to get a refund, your money will be refunded. If you never call them, your remaining funds will still be available on your account.
