To show your care for loved ones in prison on special moments such as birthdays, holidays, or certain family events, you can now send a gift to them with the iCare Gifting Service. However, this service really helps inmates and their families stay connected and get a sense of comfort as if they were together at home.
With iCare, you can give any gifts, including food, clothes, or any other kinds of items, that are allowed by the facility. Right now, you happen to want to celebrate a special moment with your loved one in prison and plan to send his favorite food, i.e., burgers. Can you send it or only packages that are already available on iCare packages?
Okay, let’s dive into our post to find out the information below!
Can You Send Burgers to Inmates with iCareGifts?
Fortunately, yes! You can send burgers or other fresh meals to your loved one as a gift on his or her special day through the iCare Gifting Visitation Service, in addition to sending gift packages available on the iCare website.
Note: This service is only currently available at 16 facilities within the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Corrections (DRC)—not all correctional facilities in the United States.
The menus available on iCare gifting visitation are not only food or things that are already available in inmate packages, as you can see in the product catalog on the iCare website. However, the items are a selection of favorites, including wings, pizza, burgers, potato tots, cookies, and any on-trend snacks.
You should know that the in-person iCare gift visitation meal program is an expansion of the Aramark Correctional Services iCare reward program, which has the noble intention of providing food choices for inmates that are generally prohibited in every facility.
What are the Rules and Regulations for Sending Burgers or Other Fresh Meals with iCareGifts?
It’s important to note that there are some rules and restrictions on sending burgers since any kind of this food is not available on inmate packages at most approved facility vendors. However, the 16 facilities within the Ohio DRC allow iCare to deliver burgers or fresh meals in accordance with certain regulations.
If you order burgers and any kinds of fresh meals for inmates, they may receive up to $28 in iCare Fresh each week. And iCare deliveries may take up to 30 days to be received by your loved one.
In addition, an inmate who can receive a fresh meal package is eligible to participate in iCare. If not, don’t hope you can send any kinds of fresh meals to them. Keep in mind that the facilities on the Ohio DRC will not receive iCare packages every day, though the time for order delivery may vary depending on the facilities.
Before sending burgers or other fresh meals to an inmate living in one of the Ohio DRC prisons, you should first know when iCare will schedule delivery. You need to know that the schedules are subject to change based on facility regulations.
If you want to send burgers, you may need to make a visitation schedule first. Make sure not to order any kinds of food until you’re sure of your prison visit. However, your fresh meal order will be placed by 11:59 p.m., at least 3 days before the day of your visit.
Although you will not be charged a refund fee, your scheduled visit may be canceled. If so, you have missed the visit, and your order cannot be placed more than 3 weeks in advance. At the end of the visit, inmates shouldn’t take any leftover food with them.
Last but not least, if you want to send burgers, any kinds of fresh meals, or inmate packages, it’s highly recommended for you to ship all of your orders at least 48 hours before the delivery schedules. It aims to make sure that your loved one in prison really receives your gift at the first opportunity.
