JPay Messages Not Being Received

Posted by

On JPay, you are able to send messages through email. When you send an email, of course you hope that it can be sent to the inmate as soon as possible. Your email may not be received because of some reasons. What reasons are they?

First, you have to make sure that the facility where the inmate is incarcerated has a JPay email feature. It is because not all services of JPay are available for all facilities. If you want to know what services a facility has, you can access the Availability and Pricing page on the JPay site and then you have to search for the facility that you want. Also, another thing that you need to make sure is to choose the right inmate for the service that you want. When you send a message to the inmate, make sure that you choose the correct inmate. When you are on the JPay home page, in the Inmate/ Offender list, you have to choose the inmate/ offender that you want. And of course, you have to make sure that you are logged in if you want to use the services of JPay, including when you want to send messages to an inmate.

If you cannot send your email because you cannot see the Send button, it can happen because you have not bought enough stamps for the email that you want to send. So, before you send an email, you have to check first whether you have enough stamps or not and if you do not have enough stamps, you are able to buy first.

Another reason why your message is not received by the inmate may be because there is something prohibited in your message. As explained on https://offers.jpay.com/doc/minnesota/faq/mn_email_faq.pdf, all electronic messages are subject to monitoring. If you want your message to be received by the inmate, you have to make sure that the messages do not jeopardize the public or the security, safety, or orderly operation of the correctional facility. All messages are screened first by the staff and if they find that the messages are not consistent with the restrictions, the message will not be delivered to the inmate.

When you send a message, you also have to make sure that it is marked as ‘sent’ in your JPay account. If not and you continue to have problems, you are able to contact JPay’s customer support at 800-574-5729.

Another possibility why your message is not received by the inmate is probably because the inmate is being punished by the staff because he did something wrong in the facility and it results in not allowing him to receive messages.
